January 7, 2013: Happy birthday to Mom, you're really the Bomb...

This could be another one excuse day because on this day in 1932 my own dear mother was born, Anna Mae Sammons. Later to marry William Troy Hammond with a last name change that messed everyone up for the next 54 years. Eventually she bore a son, William Troy Hammond, Jr. and for that I am forever grateful. Mom was the youngest of seven children and, at 81; she is the sole surviving member of her immediate family. My dad passed away in 1982 at the age of 54 so she has lived on her own for the last 30+ years. She has done well, handled her finances, her sons and her family well and I only hope and pray that I have inherited my share of her genes. So celebrate my Mom by going to Walt Disney World today. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t exist and neither would this blog.

My cousin, Mark, My aunt Delores and my Mom, 1987.

On this day in 2008, Disney-MGM Studios changed over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. If you like me you still say MGM from time to time. It’s okay, just join me in loving the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster, The Tower of Terror, Beauty and the Beast on stage and all the great Street-mosphere actors. And, so we don’t forget our Star Wars fans and family, maybe you should go right now and ride Star Tours. You can ride it several times and see how many endings you can get. I can only ride it once because after that I know the ending I get and it’s not good for anyone.

Hey, my Mom shares a birthday with Nicolas Cage. Since you are already at Hollywood Studios, stand under the big hat and scream, I am the real sorcerer’s apprentice and my hat is out of control. Or not.

Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
