January 13, 2013: Rubber Ducky, you're the one...

Rubber Ducky, you're the one,
You make bath time so much fun,
Rubber Ducky, I'm awfully fond of you.
Today is Rubber Ducky day and whether your rubber ducky is in the tub or maybe floating around the open sea (this has happened, in 1992 29,000 rubber duckies fell off a cargo ship) stand tall and proud and let everyone know what your favorite flexy fowl is. He may not be the first duck that you think of when you think of rubber ducks but Donald Fauntleroy Duck is still our very own favorite, and you can find him all over Walt Disney World. So get to WDW and sing it one more time… or not.

If we’re going to give Donald props then we should give the main mouse his respect as well. In 1930, the first Mickey Mouse comic strip appears. This coincides with the rise of the comic pages in daily and weekly newspapers, in particular color pages on the weekend. This is 2 years after Mickey’s debut and he is spreading to all media, toys and is successfully marketed nationwide and eventually worldwide. Give the Mouse some love.

And I’m just giving a little love to the Pluto Platter as well. January 13, 1957, the Wham-O Company produces the 1st Frisbee. Frisbees were originally called Pluto Platters and, with that in mind, let’s honor Pluto as well. Everyone knows dogs love Frisbees no matter what you call them.

Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
