January 25, 2013: Give a soda you jerk.

We are in our traditional winter mode, in other words, no one knows whether we are having school from one day to the next. In fact, tomorrow, school is already canceled in Johnson County, Floyd County and Elliott County. So now we wait on the phone call in the morning to tell us yea or nay. I don’t care which way it goes I just wish I knew one way or the other…

Today is National Opposite Day. So whatever you do, don’t go to Walt Disney World. Really. Don’t go. And while you’re not going to WDW, whatever you do, don’t have a Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Bar and for the love of Pete, don’t eat at Casey’s on Main Street, USA. Don’t have a magical day!
On January 25th, 1870, Gustavus Dows patented the soda fountain. Can you imagine, no soda? No soda jerks? No mix ins and syrup? Oh, soda jerks, do you know where that position originated from? The soda jerk mixed the soda water and the syrup flavoring and they mastered jerking the soda fountain handle just right to properly mix the syrup. There are a lot of places you could visit at Walt Disney World to honor the soda fountain but let’s do either Beaches and Cream on the Boardwalk or Club Cool at EPCOT. Remember, at Club Cool you can drink soft drink concoctions from around the world and watch your friends gag on a few.

Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
