February 13, 2013: Warning, warning, Valentine's Day is tomorrow.

As a public service, I am here to remind you that tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. Don’t panic just don’t forget. The worst thing you can do is forget. Because you can be sure your spouse won’t and for the next year until Valentine’s Day return you’ll hear about how you forgot Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day is the third worst thing you can forget, exceeded only by her birthday and your anniversary. Brother, if you don’t have a good memory, you’d better have a good date book. Oh, and by the way, if you do forget Valentine’s Day, even if you remember next year, you’ll hear about it every time she gets mad at you… “Oh, and then there’s the time you forgot Valentine’s Day.” Of course I’ve never experienced this myself, I’m just here to help you out.

Today is Get A Different Name Day. If you forget Valentine’s Day you might want to get a different name. If you’re not happy with your name, this is the day to do something about it. I wanted to just give my kids letters instead of names and let them choose their own name, one that they liked, when they reached legal age. My wife didn’t like that. It’s okay though, my kids never complained about their names. It’s all good. Let’s honor name changes by visiting EPCOT, which used to be EPCOT Center, Disney Hollywood Studios, which used to be Disney MGM Studios or Walt Disney World that would have just been Disney World if not for the passing of Walt. A rose by any other name… (and roses might be a good idea for tomorrow, it is Valentine's Day).
That was then...

... this is now.

When Walt Disney World was celebrating its 15th birthday, the Monkees, on one of their reunion tours, played live from the Magic Kingdom for a TV special, co-hosted by Betty White. One fourth of the Monkees was Peter Tork who was born on this date in 1944. Davy Jones was a regular at the Flower Power Music Series and, after his death; Micky Dolenz stepped in last year to take his place in the show. The Monkees have a long running relationship with Walt Disney World and with the Flower and Garden Festival coming up at EPCOT, which would be a wonderful excuse to visit WDW and honor Peter Tork. Micky Dolenz of the Monkees will kick off the Flower Power Concert Series with shows March 8 – 10. (If worse, comes to worst, promise to take her or him to Walt Disney World for Valentine's Day.)

Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
