February 12, 2013: How do you combine Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein and Drive-In Movies? WDW

There are great men and then there are GREAT men. On February 12, 1809 a GREAT man was born in a one-room log cabin in Hardin County, Kentucky. A lot of politicians try to play up their humble beginnings but this was the real deal, an almost self-educated man who still managed to become and attorney, politician and eventually President of the United States of America. Abraham Lincoln, born in Kentucky, spent his childhood in Indiana and grew to a man in Illinois, was a true man of the people, proof positive that anyone could be President, Proof positive that anyone could rise from humble beginnings to turn and shape history.

Walt was fascinated with Abraham Lincoln. As a child, Walt recited Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address to his elementary class, dressed as Lincoln. Walt created Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln for the 1964 World’s Fair and Lincoln is the lynchpin of The Hall of Presidents (you should know by now how I feel about the Hall of Presidents). With all due respect and admiration, let us visit the Hall and honor Honest Abe and hope that now, in our hour of need, God delivers us another great President to salvage the tattered remains of our once great nation.

Albert Einstein was not only a great thinker but a gifted visionary as well. Einstein was one of the most respected minds of his day. Appearing on a TV show hosted by Eleanor Roosevelt, Albert Einstein warns that the development of the hydrogen bomb brings the possibility of ending life on Earth "within the range of technical possibility." America was terrified of the H-Bomb in the 1950’s. Let’s relive some of the hysteria, with a little tongue in cheek, at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. We’ve been there twice, the kid’s loved it and I must admit that it was much better the second time than the first. Where else can you go, eat in a 1950’s style car, watch clips from crazed 1950’s science fiction movies and get a pretty cool drive-in movie experience. You need to do this at least once.

Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
