September 24, 2013: Punctuation Day, Jim Henson, Phil Hartman and I am a moron.

I am so stupid. I don’t believe that after starting this blog as a reaction to not getting accepted on the Disney Moms’ Panel, I missed the application period this year. I don’t know how. I checked regularly for the dates, and somehow still missed. Registration was September 9 – 13 and I found that out tonight (9/23). Oh, well. If you don’t even apply I guess you can’t complain. I am a moron.

Today is Punctuation Day, the day to celebrate the colon, canonize the comma, accentuate the ampersand, praise the period and brag on the brackets. Just do your best to use them correctly. Today we have spelling and grammar check and it’s easier than ever to at least get close to being correct. When you’re actually at Walt Disney World, punctuation doesn’t matter so much. Take a break, rest your head and relax :-). (Oh and punctuation can do that too!)

Jim Henson was born on this day in 1936 in Greenville, Mississippi. Henson was the creator of the Muppets and the original voice of Kermit the Frog. Henson was definitely a creative genius having worked on: Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, The Muppet Movie, Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and Return of the Jedi. The Muppets are now part of the Disney family and they fit in nicely. Just visit Hollywood Studios and enjoy Muppetvision 3D and see for yourself.

Phil Hartman was a very straight looking guy who was just a bit twisted at heart. Hartman had an offbeat view of the world that made him a fantastic actor and comedian. Phil spent eight years on Saturday Night Live as well as starring on NewsRadio. He also did a good amount of voice work including: Tale Spin, DuckTales, The Brave Little Toaster and the voice of SIR for the Alien Encounter and Morris for The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management at WDW. Let’s go enjoy the Tiki Room in his honor.

Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
