September 18, 2013: National Cheeseburger Day, Fred Willard, George Washington and Dee Dee Ramone.

Today is National Cheeseburger Day. The cheeseburger might be the perfect food. To quote Jimmy Buffett, “I like mine with lettuce and tomatoes, Heinz 57 and French fried potatoes, Big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer, now good God almighty which way do I steer?” The basic ingredients, beef, cheese and bread can be augmented by a host of ingredients to suit the taste and at Walt Disney World there are two places in The Magic Kingdom that give you an unequalled opportunity to outfit you burger the way you like it. Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Tavern and Cosmic Ray’s offer fixing bars that allow you to turn a 1/3-pound burger into a meal for the entire family. I’m not kidding. All you want with no limit. If you’ve not experienced this, you won’t understand. It is awesome and Pecos Bill’s also offers a fix it the way you like taco salad. I’m not even hungry and this sounds good.

Fred Willard was born on this day in 1939 in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Fred Willard is a very funny guy. Fernwood Tonight, This is Spinal Tap, Everybody Loves Raymond feature his everyman just a tad twisted persona. For Disney, his roles include: Melvin in Chicken Little, Shelby Forthright in Wall-E, Jack Hench on Kim Possible and a couple of turns on Wizards of Waverly Place. With limited time magic in the air at Walt Disney World, it’s possible that you might see Chicken Little, so look for him and remember Fred.

On this day in 1793, President George Washington laid the cornerstone of the Capitol building. George has some personal effects prominently displayed in foyer of The Hall of Presidents. Visit and watch the show. It chokes me up every time.

Anyone who knows me very well knows that I love The Ramones. The brudders stripped rock down to the essentials and cranked out some of the greatest songs that never hit the charts. Unfortunately, The Ramones greatest commercial successes came after the band was gone and three of the original four members have passed on.

Dee Dee Ramone (Douglas Colvin) was born on this day in 1951. Dee Dee was the main songwriter and probably the free spirit of the band. Gabba, gabba, Hey Dee Dee. You are missed. Look for punk inspired clothing and souvenirs at WDW and remember: The Ramones helped make that happen.

Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
