Today is Innergize
Day, the day after the Autumnal Equinox. This is day dedicated to refreshment
and rejuvenation. You should do something to raise your energy level and lower
your stress level. Suggestions include spa visits, hikes, and picnics, anything
that makes you relaxed, happy and recharged. The official website for the
holiday includes spas, so let’s go to the spa at The Grand Floridian. Mmm.
Today is Mickey
Rooney’s birthday. He was born Joe Yule, Jr. in Brooklyn, New York in 1920.
Some apocryphal stories credit Lillian Disney with citing Mickey Rooney when
telling Walt that he should change Mortimer Mouse’s name to “something cute
like Mickey.” Whether or not that is true, Mickey is in The Guinness Book of
World Records as the actor with the longest career on stage and screen and
a good part of it was for Disney. Rooney has been in Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure, The Fox and the Hound, Pete’s
Dragon, The Autograph Hound and The
Muppet Movie. Mickey is a little guy with a big personality so let’s visit
Muppetvision 3D in his honor.
Jason Alexander was born in Newark, New Jersey
on this day in 1959. Alexander, probably most famous for his role as George
Costanza on Seinfeld, has a number of
Disney credits including: The Hunchback
of Notre Dame, The Hunchback of Notre Dame II, The Return of Jafar, and 101 Dalmations II: Patch’s Adventure. At
one time there was a Hunchback show at Hollywood Studios (then Disney-MGM
Studios) but that is long gone. Today, let’s go to Hollywood Studios and enjoy
Fantasmic! with Jafar being a major villain in this fantastic show.
On this date in 2001, Walt Disney: One Man’s
Dream opened at Disney-MGM Studios. I cannot imagine Hollywood Studios without
this attraction. It’s like a mini-museum coupled with a movie about the life of
Walt. Just go, take some time to enjoy the displays, and stay for the movie.
Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting
for your dreams to come true.
