Helen Lyndon Goff was
born on this day in 1899 in Maryborough, Queensland, Australia. In 1934, Goff
published the book that would become her first success, Mary Poppins. More famously know as P. L. Travers, she went on to
write Poppins stories until 1988. In 1964 Walt Disney released the movie, Mary Poppins, which Travers did not like
at all even though she was involved in the production. This fall Disney will
release Saving Mr. Banks, a movie
that tells the story of Walt acquiring the rights to produce to the movie. Look
for Mary Poppins at EPCOT and The Magic Kingdom. We have seen her in both
places and she is a delight.
Okay, I’m a geek fan boy. Gillian Anderson was
born on this day in 1965. The female lead in The X-Files, I have to admit that she definitely made the show more
attractive. Let’s go to Cosmic Ray’s Starlight CafĂ©, get an order of chili
cheese fries and enjoy the alien atmosphere.
Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting
for your dreams to come true.
