Today is International
Lefthander’s Day. Lefthanders get a rough deal. They are referred to as
“sinister” because they can shake your hand with their right hand, a sign of
good intent, but still have their dominant hand free to attack you. Lefthanders
are more accident-prone because everything is set up for right-handed people
and everything is just more awkward for lefthanders. My brother is left-handed,
my son is left-handed and several of our recent presidents have been left-handed.
There is one Disney princess who is officially left-handed, Tiana. Anika Noni
Rose, the voice of Tiana, is left handed and asked that Tiana be left-handed as
well. Go visit Tiana; she is awesome.
On this day in 1991,
Nikita Hopkins was born in California. Hopkins has been nominated for an Annie
Award for his portrayal of Roo in Pooh’s
Heffalump Movie, Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie, Piglet’s Big Movie, Winnie
the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year and The
Tigger Movie. Visit the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom where you can
enjoy one of the finest buffets in Walt Disney World and visit with all the
Pooh characters.
The famous Don Ho, Hawaiian ukulele player and
singer was born on this day in 1930. The best possible tribute to Don would be
to visit Aulani Resort in Hawaii but if you can’t get there, visit the
Polynesian Resort and enjoy a meal at Ohana’s or the Kona Café’. Be sure to
sing “Tiny Bubbles” as you chow down.
Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting
for your dreams to come true.
