Today is Lighthouse
Day. There is a lighthouse at Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Go see it.
Today is Purple Heart
Day. George Washington established the Purple Heart during The Revolutionary
War and awarded three of them. The award for meritorious service was not
awarded again until the 200th anniversary of Washington’s birth. The
Purple Heart is awarded to soldiers wounded or killed by the enemy in service.
I’m suggesting that you visit the Hall of Presidents in The Magic Kingdom where
you can see a number of George Washington’s personal possessions on display.
Wayne Knight was born
on this day in 1955 in New York. Knight is best known as Newman on Seinfeld, the mailman who was often
Seinfeld’s nemesis. In our wonderful world of Disney he has been the voice of:
Al McWhiggin in Toy Story and Toy Story 2, Tantor in Tarzan, Demetrius the Pot Maker in Hercules, and Emperor Zurg in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. I’ll go
with Toy Story Midway Mania at Hollywood Studios in remembrance of Mr. Knight.
On this date in 1959, Explorer 6 transmits the
first television photo of Earth from space. This brings up the thought of my
favorite scene from Spaceship Earth at EPCOT. If you’ve not seen it, go ride
it, I wouldn’t steer you wrong.
Today is my son, Matt and my mother-in-law Deloris' birthday. Happy birthday to them both and many returns of the day.
Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting
for your dreams to come true.
