August 21, 2013: Poets, Winnie the Pooh and senior citizens.

Today is Poet’s Day. Unlike Bad Poetry Day, this is a day for good, serious poets. So read some Frost or Sandberg or Whitman and get real thoughtful. It’s okay. Good songs are often good poetry as well. Visit the All-Star Music Resort. We stayed there on our first trip in 2001, Broadway section; we had a big Beauty and the Beast poster over the entrance to the elevators.

Today is also Senior Citizen’s Day. Walt Disney World is for all ages, cradle to the grave. As I get farther from one and closer to the other, I appreciate that there are ways to enjoy WDW without it being so strenuous. I plan on visiting for years to come and I plan on having a good time as long as I can.

On this date in 1920, Daphe and A. A. Milne, become parents to a son. They name him Christopher Robin Milne.  Later, he is immortalized in Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner.

On this date in 1921, Christopher Robin Milne receives a teddy bear for his first birthday. The bear is named Edward but later is known as Winnie-the-Pooh. The bear is now on permanent display at The New York Public Library. Make your way over to the Pooh ride at The Magic Kingdom.

Hayden Panettiere was born on this day in 1989 in Palisades, New York. For one great season on Heroes it was, “Save the cheerleader, save the world.” For Disney she appeared in Ice Princess, supplied the voice of Suri for Dinosaur and the voice of Dot in A Bug’s Life.

Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
