Last night,
our students participated in their penultimate academic team meet and they
performed gloriously. Only our meet with Raceland remains and then the
playoffs, District on January 19th at home. All the best to our
students and God bless you for your hard work and fine performances all year
long.
There is
only one excuse to even be considered today. To include any other excuse would
be to somehow lessen or demean the importance of our single excuse for visiting
Walt Disney World today.
On this
date, in 1901, Walter Elias Disney was born. There are 65,000 wonderful cast
members working at the most magical place on Earth because one man followed his
dreams to their ultimate realization. To say that Walt Disney has had a huge
impact on my life would be an understatement. Walt quite famously said, "I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing - that it was all
started by a mouse." Well, that mouse and the man were certainly partners
in this vast enterprise. Mickey was the creation but Walt was the man who
honestly, in quite a few moments of desperation, saw beyond the pen and ink and
into a future that only the most visionary individuals could understand much
less imagine.
Do anything you’d like at WDW today. If I could
do one thing, I would go to the Magic Kingdom, stand in front of the “Partners”
statue and shed a tear for a man who I will never meet but who has changed my
life forever.
Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting
for your dreams to come true.
