December 14, 2012: Monkey in the middle.

Today is Monkey Day and I have often been accused of acting like a primate, although usually a big ape and not a monkey. I like monkeys, my wife always wanted a pet monkey, and I think it goes a long way in explaining why she married me. Since it is Monkey Day you could also feel free to monkey around, after all it is Friday and the next to the last Friday before Christmas. Maybe you could get a sock monkey to play with. Sock monkeys are kind of creepy; I vastly prefer real monkeys. If you are the handy sort (to quote Red Green, “If the women don’t find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.”) maybe you have a monkey wrench or two lying around.

We love the monkeys, apes, gorillas, and all the primates at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We were watching some very active primates close to Kali River Rapids on our last trip when a custodian came up to talk to us. The custodian explained the entire back-story behind the habitat and why it is perfect to hold these particular animals. The custodian, not an animal handler, vet, or cast member in charge of primates, knew the entire back-story of this attraction. That is what makes Disney wonderful; everybody jumps in to make everything special.

Get on over to the Animal Kingdom, look for your own highly qualified custodian and have a magical day.

Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
