Saturday was an
exhilarating and exhausting day that started at 6 a.m. and ended at 5:30 p.m. Louisa
Middle School hosted the Sixth Grade Showcase for Lawrence and Boyd counties.
For the first time in the history of the school we came in first place in quick
recall and first place overall in the showcase. Our kids have worked so hard
and we are so proud of them. This is the reward for work that started at Louisa
Elementary School and continued when these students advanced to our school
where they have competed against older, more experienced teams all year long.
Saturday they performed like seasoned professionals, unshakable, unstoppable
against excellent competition among some of the nicest, most sportsmanlike
schools in the state of Kentucky. God bless you all.
My co-worker, Donna
West, texted me and said, “What are you gonna do now? Go to Disney World?” Wow,
a new excuse to go, as if I needed one. Do you?
In 1981, the doctor
hit the baby one more time, or at least smacked her butt, when Britney Spears
was born. Now I was 20 when she was born so I was never a huge Britney Spears
fan but we need never forget that at one time she was a Mouseketeer back in the
days when Disney-MGM Studios was a working production facility. So hit
Hollywood Studios and relive those glory days and make a few new memories.
One of our questions
in quick recall Saturday was about the artificial heart and on this day in
1982, the first permanent artificial heart was successfully implanted in Barney
Clark. The Jarvic-7 heart kept Clark alive for 112 days and was a modern marvel
of medicine and engineering. Now we all know that a dream is a wish your heart
makes and…
Your best excuse is
always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
