December 13, 2012: Those magnificent young men in their flying machines.

Tonight is the LCHS Choir concert at Louisa United Methodist Church; high atop Town Hill in Louisa, Kentucky, 7 p.m. Christmas is in full swing. I think this is our fourth Christmas concert this season. I hope you are enjoying yours.

December 13th, 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright, the bicycle repairmen from Dayton, Ohio, fly a self-powered airplane at Kittyhawk, North Carolina. Actually, it was Kill Devil Hill and doesn’t that sound way cooler than Kittyhawk (no disrespect meant but doesn’t it just sound like you would get things done at a place named Kill Devil Hill). If you’ve ever flown to Walt Disney World or if you’ve ever flown at Disney, you have a debt of gratitude to the Wright Brothers. One really cool thing that I just found out, Neil Armstrong, took a piece of cloth and wood from the original 1903 Wright Flyer to the moon with him.

Go to WDW, ride Soarin’, and dream of flying over Kill Devil Hill.

Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
