July 3, 2013: Shere Khan, Minnie Mouse, Mercedes and Tom Cruise.

On this day in 1906, George Sanders was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. Even though he was born in Russia, he was born to British parents and in 1967 he became the voice of Shere Khan the Tiger in Disney’s adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. You need to visit the Animal Kingdom where you can see any number of tigers and perhaps even meet Shere Khan.

Maybe Saber-tooth Tigers here?

Marcellite Garner was born on this day in 1910 in Redlands, California. Marcellite worked for Disney in the ink and paint department until, in 1929, it was discovered that she had a unique voice that lended itself perfectly to… Minnie Mouse. Garner voiced Minnie Mouse from 1929 until 1939. Just look for Minnie at Walt Disney World, Chef Mickey’s is a perfect, guaranteed spot.

July 3, 1886, Karl Benz drives his first automobile. Eventually the Daimler-Benz Company will develop an elite car, the standards of which were determined by one of their engineers. The elite car was named after the ten-year-old daughter of the engineer. Her name was Mercedes. Celebrate today’s event by driving at the Tomorrowland Speedway. It’s a long line for a short drive.

July 3, 1962, Tom Cruise was born in Syracuse, New York. Tom’s done some good work: Risky Business, Jerry McGuire, Rainman, Mission Impossible. Tom has taken his daughter, Suri, to Walt Disney World. I hope they had a great time. I’m sure they did because they were able to stay in Cinderella Castle. Wow. Seriously, Tom Cruise is one of the very few public figures that I would like to have a serious conversation with. I am 361 days older than him. Celebrate the secret agent with some Agent P action at EPCOT.

Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
