Today started
horribly and ended wonderfully. You ever have one of those days when it’s
nothing major that’s wrong but a lot of little things? That was this morning.
But this evening… my son’s high school honor choir received a distinguished
rating, then he played tennis in Pikeville, Kentucky and won his singles match
8 – 1 and his doubles match 8 – 1 and then my daughter performed her Junior
Recital at Kentucky Christian University. What a wonderful ending for a day
that started really wrong. I am including one of Allison's selections. Enjoy!
On this date in 1925,
Iwao Takamoto was born in Los Angeles. Takamoto began working at the Walt
Disney Studios in 1947 and worked on films such as: Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, One Hundred and One Dalmatians and Lady and the Tramp. Takamoto left Disney
in 1961 and worked for Hanna-Barbera where he helped create Scooby-Doo! Where are you? To honor him,
let’s go to Tony’s Town Square Restaurant and enjoy a meal with Lady and the
Tramp. Be sure to ask your server to get their autograph for you.
When I was in high school and college (1974 –
1982) we went to a lot of midnight movies but there was only one that required
a supply kit to properly enjoy the film, The
Rocky Horror Picture Show. Tim
Curry, Doctor Frank-N-Furter was born on this date in 1946. Curry has gone on to star in a host of roles
on stage and screen and a number of Disney roles: Cardinal Richelieu in Disney's The
Three Musketeers, Long
John Silver in Muppet
Treasure Island, Taurus Bulba in Darkwing Duck, Chief Elder in Dinosaurs TV series, S.I.R. – Alien Encounter (Magic
Kingdom Attraction), Anton Sevarius in Gargoyles, Lord Dragaunus in Disney's The
Mighty Ducks TV Series, Caliph Kapok in Disney's Aladdin TV series, Voice of Dr. Anton Sevarius in Gargoyles, Voice of Moltoc in Quack Pack, Forté in Beauty
and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, Spooky the cat in Teacher's Pet, Von Talon in Valiant, Stubbings and Dr. Lloyd Wexler in Phineas and Ferb, The Sorcerer in Randy
Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja, Thaddeus
E. Klang in TaleSpin and Evil Manta in The
Little Mermaid. There is
nowhere you can go in Walt Disney World and not find a connection. Just try.
Quickies:
1775: Captain John
Parker issues orders to not fire unless fired upon and the American Revolution
begins. Visit the Liberty Tree Tavern at The Magic Kingdom.
1909: Joan of Arc is
declared a saint. Visit the France Pavilion.
1944: Mark “Flo”
Volman was born. Flo was in Flo and Eddie, The Turtles and Frank Zappa’s Band.
Enjoy some good music at WDW with your family and be “Happy Together.”
1968: Ashley Judd, a
member of the Judd family, from Ashland, KY is probably the exact opposite of
me politically but she is a local girl and fellow University of Kentucky
graduate. She does have a Disney connection through the ABC show, Missing.
Remember, your best
excuse is always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
