Wow, long
day, and it was a day “off.” There were lots of odds and ends to clean up that
seem to require a day when there are no distractions and to wrap everything up
Matt was in the Ashland Christmas Parade with the members of his DeMolay
chapter. Deana and I went to watch the parade and Allison met us there and
after we feasted at Cheddars, with some awesome comfort food. I am full and
tired so let’s get to the excuses.
Malcolm
Rebennack was born on this day in 1940 in New Orleans. You’ve heard Malcolm, he
recorded an excellent version of “Cruella DeVil” and we all love the Randy
Newman song he recorded for The Princess
and the Frog, “Down in New Orleans.” Of course we know Malcolm by another
name, Dr. John. In what seems to be a life pattern, all my favorite artists become
associated with Disney and I have loved his piano and voice for years. Dr. John has won five Grammys and in 2011 he
was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Get to the Magic Kingdom,
meet Tiana, and sing her a bar of “Down in New Orleans.” She’ll act like she
appreciates it. Really, she will.
Today is World Hello
Day. How could you celebrate that at Disney? Go around EPCOT and ask people in
each country how they say hello. Go to the Japanese Pavilion and Shop for Hello
Kitty products (they have a bunch). When you’re finished saying hello, ride It’s
a Small World where you see all the ways to say good-bye at the end of the
attraction.
Remember, your best
excuse is always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
