On this date in 1949, Dave Thomas was born in
St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. This is not the Dave Thomas of Wendy’s fame
but the Dave Thomas of SCTV fame that, together with Rick Moranis, created the
McKenzie Brothers. Dave and Rick took those characters and imported them into Brother Bear and Brother Bear II under different names. Dave also supplied the voice
of Hugo for The Legend of Tarzan television
series. Visit the Canadian Pavilion at EPCOT and honor both McKenzie brothers
and happy birthday Dave.
Quickies:
1874: Levi Strauss
markets blue jeans with copper rivets at $13.50 per dozen. Go to Downtown
Disney and price a pair of blue jeans, probably $135.00 per pair.
1908: Jimmy Stewart
was born. It’s A Wonderful Life is
one of my favorite movies. I love small town America and Walt did too. Visit
Main Street, U.S.A. in The Magic Kingdom to celebrate small town America.
1946: Cher was born.
One of those people that may be identified with only one name, Cher has a
varied and deep resume. Did you know that the artists who created Rapunzel’s
mother in Tangled based her look on Cher?
They were attempting to create a character that was the physical opposite of
Rapunzel. Go visit Rapunzel.
1958: Jane Wiedlin was
born. Jane is the guitarist for the GoGos. Guess What, the GoGos are playing in
the Eat to the Beat concert series during this year’s Food and Wine Festival at
EPCOT.
Remember, your best
excuse is always: waiting for your dreams to come true.
