Today is Mr. Haney’s
birthday. If you’re my age you probably remember Mr. Haney on Green Acres and Petticoat Junction. Mr. Haney was a salesman / low level con man that
worked the community around Hooterville. He was a funny guy. Pat Buttram was
born on this day in 1915 in Addison, Alabama. Buttram also had several Disney
connections. Pat provided the voice of Chief in The Fox and the Hound, Luke in Rescuers,
The Sherriff of Nottingham in Robin
Hood and Possum Park Emcee in A Goofy
Movie. Let’s search out Goofy and Max in favor of Pat’s last role.
On this date in 1965,
Sean Marshall who played Pete in Pete’s
Dragon was born in Canoga Park, California. Check out the parade and look
for Pete and his dragon.
My favorite place to visit in The Magic Kingdom
is not Cinderella Castle but is located in front of the castle. The Partners
Statue featuring Walt and Mickey looking down Main Street, U.S.A. really sums
up what The Magic Kingdom and Walt Disney World is all about, a man, a mouse
and a vision. Walt is pointing and telling Mickey to, “Look at all the happy
people.” This Sunday I will be happy, very happy.
Heart are a special group for me. I have seen
them live several times and the first time I saw Heart was also my brother Bob’s
first concert. He was twelve and Ann and Nancy Wilson flirted with him all
night long, as he was the only twelve-year-old on the front row in a festival
seating show. Nancy came out at the end of the show and gave him a thumb pick
that we still have. Today is Ann Wilson’s birthday and we’ll not throw numbers
around because we’re all older and life goes on. There’s live music at EPCOT
all summer, check it out and think of Ann while you rock out.
Remember, your best excuse is always: waiting
for your dreams to come true.
